Air pollution can affect certain lung diseases and can do worse damage to the human body. It can: cause death in infants and young children, shortness of breath and chest pain, wheezing and coughing, asthmatics have higher risks for asthma attacks, and more treatment or hospitalization for people with lung diseases like asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
